2010 Origins Pairs Tournament

Posted by Ranillon on 30. June 2010 22:02

A new event this year was a 40K Warhammer Pairs tournament.  750 points per player and if you didn't come with a partner we'd find you one.  Here are some pictures from the event (Click to see larger version).

2010 Origins Coverage Begins -- Now with More Trophies!

Posted by Ranillon on 24. June 2010 19:28

We are offering the same nice trophies for the Rogue Trader Tournament as last year, but this year we are also offering trophies for the winners of our Pairs and Eight-Army Tournament.  The first one just finished, so here is what the winning pair received.  However, the Eight-Army Tourny isn't until Sunday.

I would like to take this chance to thank Armorcast for donating some of their cool cinematic effects blisters as additional prizes for the Pairs Tournament.  Everyone who played got to take one home -- along with some of our special 40KOrigins.com dice!

More extensive Origins reports to come.

Origins is Almost Here

Posted by Ranillon on 22. June 2010 22:13

Origins starts tomorrow -- although we won't be offering any events until Thursday (which is when the convention really gets going).  We've been hurrying to get everything ready and that includes all the loot we are giving out this year.

Everyone of the tournaments -- The Pairs Tournament on Thursday, the Rogue Trader Tournament on Saturday, and the Eight-Army Tournament on Sunday all come with trophies for the winners and extra prizes.  The biggest goes to the winner of the RTT -- a large Grand Champion Trophy and a Space Marine Battalion box.

We are also offering prizes for the Apocalypse game -- every strategic point you control at the end of the game gives a gift certificate to the Soldiery, a shop here in Columbus.  Never fear, if you are only in town for the event you can stop by their booth and use it there before you leave.  We are also seeing if we can get free pizza for the game.  Yum!

It is the Armoury in Pickerington that is providing the extra prizes for our biggest event, the RTT.  The winner as I said gets a Space Marine box, Best General the new Eldar Fire Prism/Nightspinner, Best Sportsman the new IG Manticore/Deathstrike, and Best Painting the Foundation Paint Set.

And, remember, just showing up for one of our games gets you some free 40KOrigins.com dice!

We have our own "area" this year in the Miniatures Hall -- back toward the far right corner.  You can't miss us, in part because we are bringing a new giant banner to point out where we are.

So, stop by even if you are not set on playing any of our games -- I bet we can change your mind when you see what we have on offer!

New Warhammer on Advanced Order

Posted by Ranillon on 15. June 2010 09:23

It's coming -- you can now advanced order the new Warhammer rulebook at a cool $75 (ouch!).

Always cool to see a new edition, but the cost is more than a bit steep.  Prices like these do nothing to discourage naysayers who are already accusing GW of taking its players for granted.  <sigh>

There are also other editions and some other related material (including some nifty looking new fantasy templates) to be found on the general advanced order page.
