Posted by Shadowvast on 14. January 2012 17:48

Hi Guys and Gals. We are bringin Necromunda to Origins this year with a living gang/ Living city spin. The gangs will grow and evolve over the course of the convention, and we will post pictures of the action and highlights each day for you to follow during the convention. In the meantime here are a few pictures of the gangs and some early skirmishes!

Origins 2012.....WWWAAAYYYYY ahead of Schedule! or is it?

Hi all. Shadowvast here. Rest assured we are all working like grots in a mushroom mine to bring you an even bigger and more Badass Origins 2012 schedule. We have several major events that will of course return, like the 40k and fantasy Indy GT tournaments, as well as some specialist games love like Bloodbowl, Necromunda, Space Hulk, and maybe even some Battlefleet Gothic!

Now we work hard all year to bring you the events you want to see, and this year we are going to directly ask you what systems you want to see events in. Leave out the big tournaments, those are already locked and loaded, give us ideas (nothing is too crazy to bring up) and we'll TRY to run with them.

As an example we will be holding a "living Hive" Necromunda game that will run a few times each day during the convention. The gangs will age, evolve and change based on the results of each game over the weekend! We will have daily news reports from the front posted here with the "play by play" on all the under hive action. Let us know what else! Maybe a "living Space Hulk" game similar to our Necromunda example above.

We are already pushing the final schedule deadline for the convention so let us know so we can work it in. We look forward to seeing you all in 2012!

Origins 2011 has come and gone...the highlights and low lights!

Well, it was a long week but we had an amazing time! Results are being finalized with GW this week. We should have all our scores put into a presentable format in the next day or so. As soon as we do we will post results from the GT and pics from all the other events. We had more than 100 partcipants in the introductory scenarios before Saturday! WOW talk about being tired ( Alan Loved it!).

The tournaments were a big success as well, and we had a few memborable moments....like a single eldar farseer rolling perils 3 turns in a row...despite runes and a helm ( then proceeed to break and run off the board the first turn of his next game Sealed)!! We also had a twin close combat weapon chaos Drednought fire frenzy and kill another drednought.....Surprised....with his flamer.....

Another Eldar player had 4 in a single game....on the same table as the other one!! ( we've got a cursed table apparently--ed.)So with that in mind we contemplated changeing the tournament name to peril in the Origins, but reason prevailed.

We gave away tickets to the 2012 Throne of Skulls tournament to be held in Memphis. The winners came out ahead in a good sized field of players with incredibly close scores. We had the top 5 players with indentical battle scores. We fell back to sportsmanship to determine a winner, but we still had a three way tie, so we moved on to painting. There was a tie there again! We had two more people judge the paint on those last two armies, and the winner took his position by a single point!!!

All in all a spectacular weekend with some great people makes for a good time to me. Next year Origins will be Bigger and better than ever if you play Fantasy or 40k....or gothic, or space hulk or necromunda.....YYEEEESSSSSS plans we have.....

Origins 2011 is under way!!

Well, Day one is well under way and we are all set to ramp up for this week's big events. Aside from all the small scenario games ( dont miss the starlight trailer park from "the last Starfighter")  we are running three tournaments this week. The first is tomorrow. We have the 8 army challenge beginnig at 9am tomorrow. This unique event requires you to bring nothing but skill. We are providing painted forces to play with. The tournament consists of 8 45 minute rounds. In each round you will play a different army against a different opponent! This one will test the skill of even seasoned veterans by forcing you to play a different army every round!

Friday at 8am is our "hobby" doubles tournament set during the seige of a deathworld. The three round tournament features linked missions that tell the story of a brutal conflict fought over the remains of a ruined rural settlement. This is a doubles tournament, so each team will need two 1000 point armies (each with the required 1 HQ and 2 Troop slots filled from independant force organisation charts). Three 2.5 hours rounds will be fought to determine a winning team. THere is some serious swag to be had with this one.

Saturday is the big independant GT. This 1850 point tournament is one of only two tournaments in central Ohio to be awarding tickets to the 2012 Throne of Skulls invitational tournament held in Memphis. The first and second place battle scores will earn a spot for Memphis in the spring. We  are also awarding for best painted army and best sportsmanship so bring your "A" game. Please keep in mind that these categories are scored for everyone, but they are independant of one another. ie: an unpainted army can still win for Sportsmanship, or best general.

There are a lot of things to see at Origins, so even if you cannot play in one of our events, stop in and say hello. We will all be glad to answer any questions you might have for us!!

One Week warning!!

Origins is only a week away! We are working tirelessly to get everything ready, and we are almost there. We have too many events to count, everything for beginners all the way to the Veterans. Come and see what we have to offer and play in one of our events!
