Winning Isn't Everything -- Or, One Hopes Exodites See it that Way at Least

Posted by Ranillon on 2. November 2008 03:49

The painting contest over at The Way of Saim-Hann is over and yours truly lost out to the sublime mastery of Ron over at From the Warp.  We lesser mortals must now just drown our sorrows in the beverage of our choice and contemplate our own meaninglessness in the cosmos.....until, that is, the next competition comes along and we end up beating everyone!  Bwah-ha-ha-ha!

In the meantime here are some extra pictures of my entry -- an Exodite Autarch with Laser Lance on winged dragon.  The last is the entry picture, but if you click it you'll get a much larger close-up image than what was posted at the competition.

I might have squeaked by in painting but I'm fairly sure you've got me hands down, no contest in the conversion department.

You've got a great model here, I can only imagine what the rest of the army looks like.

You're a real artist.  Artists like you will always beat technicians like me in a test of painting ability.  I have to do the best conversions I can just to stay in the same neighborhood!

The model is actually the only Exodite model I have done.  I've had an exodite army in mind for a while, but the amount of work required to do it right is daunting.  My hope is that Way of Saim-Hann will do more such competitions so I will be motivated to do the entire force over time.
