Apocalypse Rules Beta 1

Posted by Ranillon on 8. January 2009 11:59

Here is my rough draft of the Apocalypse rules for the big game at Origins:

1)  All Games Workshop and Forgeworld rules will be used, with later rules/updates trumping older ones.  Likewise, Lords of Battle from Bell of Lost Souls will also be used.

2)  No points limit.

3)  Super-heavies, Titans, and fliers can all be used.

4)  All starting forces for a particular player must be deployed on the same table.  A table is defined as an actual physical 4 x 8 table (from 6 to 8 will be used in total).  Reserves brought in after the first turn can be deployed anywhere.

5)  A full turn will be two hours while each side will have one hour to complete their individual turn.  Turns will be timed.  All actions must immediately cease when time runs out for that turn.

6)  Each side will have as much as one half hour to initially deploy their troops.  Deployment for each side will be timed and the side that deploys the fastest gets the first turn.

7)  There will be two objective markers per table, one each in the deployment area of each team.  Each marker counts for one point.

8)  In addition, each player must designate a "leader model" in his force.  This leader model is worth one point if killed.  However, being a "leader" endows the model with the Eternal Warrior rule even if he does not usually possess it.  The leader model can likewise claim enemy (those in the opposing team's deployment zone) objective markers by himself.  If he does so either alone or as part of a group he gains +1 point for his team.

9)  For the sake of completing a turn players can delegate control of all or some of their models to other players for any period of time.

10)  Prizes will be awarded for the most impressive model and the best painted model.  Any officials associated with 40Korigins.com are not eligible for these prizes.

11)  All rules questions and rulings made on site by 40kOrigins.com officials are final.

12)  40kOrigins.com and Origins is not responsible for any theft or damage to your models.  So, keep an eye on them!

Comments and critiques are welcome.

    I have two suggestions.

For 2) Players should bring a list broken down in 1K increments to allow organizers to better match the sides.  IE  If you want to to have up to 5K for one player that player should bring like a 3K, 4K, and 5K list.  That way if one side is like 1K short it is easy for the other side to drop 1K to match.

For 5) If the time ends before the assault phase has begun all existing assaults will still be played just no new combatants or combats.  If the time ends during the assault phase assaults are played to completion.  These are just to avoid people trying to drag out turns to avoid existing assaults they they are losing or trying to prevent slow models from getting their attacks in the assault phase(Did I assault those thunderhammer termis with only 30 seconds left.  Just enough time for me to roll my attacks and you to take your saves.)
