After an hour or two of effort I've managed to put my new Ironclad Dreadnought together. It wasn't too hard -- the model is well designed and goes together without any of those pesty misaligned pieces that force you to do a lot of shaving or sanding to get a good fit.
As I explained last time the model comes with an arm for every major weapon. Likewise, the fit between weapon and the torso is tight, meaning you can switch out and pose the weapons without having to worry about it popping off or drooping. I also went to the trouble of adding a center axis onto the lower leg assembly that allows the torso to turn in place. I used part of the stock of an old worn out paint brush. Add in a little dremel tool work (man, I love that thing) and the end result is a model that can be posed in many different ways. I can also pull off the torso and weapons to make transport a snap.
All-in-all I really like the end result. The only real choices I had to make were which minor weapons to put on which arm. The dreadnought weapon comes with a storm bolter standard, but it can be upgraded to a heavy flamer. Likewise, the chainfist/seismic hammer comes with a meltagun, but can likewise be switched out with a heavy flamer. I decided to place the meltagun on the hammer and the flamer on the chainfist. No real reason why -- mostly personal preference. I also like the hunter-killer missiles on top. They are not only handy, but really add to the visual impact of the model.
Now I just need to paint the thing...
